A man has been taken to hospital after it happened around 9.50am.
Emergency services were calledwith a report of a collision involving a pedestrian and car outside Prezzo.
An elderly man has been taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol with serious injuries.
Closures have been put into place from the Promenade to the junction with Imperial Square - and from the Promenade turning into and out of St Georges Road - while emergency services remain at the scene.
Motorists are being asked to avoid the area.
