Cheltenham Day Two - Top tips for Ladies Day
Cheltenham Hat Company's Sarah Speakman says the "bolder the better" for Ladies Day
Ladies Day sees racegoers compete for the crown of best dressed.
Day Two is seen as the most flamboyant of the Cheltenham Festival, and before attention turns to the Queen Mother Champion Chase, all eyes will be on those looking to impress.
Sarah Speakman runs the Cheltenham Hat Company and says fortune favours the bold when it comes to Ladies Day, "the bolder the better I think for racing, particularly Ladies Day, so a big hat would definitely be the thing I'd recommend for anyone coming through my door.
"Certainly, a smaller understated hat would work for some outfits.
"If you want your outfit to do the talking, then probably go for the understated hat, but if you have a simpler outfit in a bold colour then the bigger the better.
Wetter conditions are expected for Day Two of the Cheltenham Festival and Sarah Speakman says racegoers often underestimate the poor weather at Prestbury Park.
She says she very regularly has customers "that come in with no idea, and will have ridiculous shoes and ridiculous outfits which are going to make them so cold on the day.
"I will advise them that they might want to think about how cold it is going to be up there, being probably 3 degrees colder than anywhere else it Cheltenham.
"Not everyone understands, but most people do get it and will have there regular warm coat that they'll match a hat too."
"Definitely bring an umbrella" - Heat Magazine's Style Editor
Laura Puddy is Heat magazine's Style Editor, she predicts the hats this year "will be second to none" and advises racegoers to "always bring a spare of shoes.
"So if you're going to wear a pair of heels, bring your spare pair of shoes so when those feet hurt at the end of the day and you're walking back to your car, you're not hobbling around.
"Never a good look."
For those more eccentric looks, Laura Puddy says "confidence is key.
"If you're feeling good, you're ultimately going to look good."
So what can we expect to see?
If you're not getting involved in Ladies Day but are still attending and admiring people's fashion choices, Laura Puddy expects you to see "bright colours" and a varied collection.
"Fashion is ever changing and ever evolving and I think now more than ever people are more daring with their fashion.
"People want to wear their wardrobes and feel special."
The attendance isn't expected to be as high as the opening day, but more than 60,000 racegoers will make their way to Prestbury Park.
Gates will open at 10:30am again, with the first race being the Ballymore Novices' Hurdle at 1:30pm where Jockey's will compete for £135,000.
As always the biggest prize comes from the feature race, the Queen Mother Champion chase, where they'll be going after £400,000. The favourite to take home the winning is Irish trainer Willie Mullin's Energurmene.
