Cheltenham animal shelter heavily relying on donations
The shelter say they are struggling with rising costs.
Cheltenham Animal Shelter are seeing huge increases to the costs of running the centre, meaning they are becoming heavily reliant on donations.
The shelter said as pet lovers are also struggling with the cost of living, less people are able to rehome animals.
They have also seen an increase in the number of pets being brought to the shelter.
Nicky Spanswick, Operations Manager there, said: "Initially we had the fallout of Covid-19 where lots of people had pets that they could no longer keep due to work commitments changing or family circumstances changing.
"Now we've hit the cost of living crisis so less and less people are rehoming."
Nicky explains next year is going to be difficult for the shelter.
She said, "As we head into the New Year our costs are ever rising, we're now at over £1 million to run the shelter every year.
"We heavily rely on the kind generosity of our supporters for donations and fundraising.
"Just our energy alone is doubling in price, so we really do need donations to continue the fantastic work that all of the team here do."
