A video has gone viral on Twitter showing cars struggling to stop as they try to make their way down Leckhampton Hill Road.

Speaking with residents, Stephanie and Gavin Hawkes described the scenes as "chaos".

Stephanie was trying to make her way back home in a taxi when she was forced to walk when the snow stopped the driver taking her any further.

She said, "I was walking up the road and I could see several cars smashed into bollards, smashed into each other.

"Chaos really, there were some police blocking the road up Leckhampton Hill, so you couldn't get up the road. It was crazy really."

"I wouldn't want to go on the roads at the moment."

The snow caused a lot of disruption in Gloucestershire with more than 200 schools were shut today. Cheltenham Borough Council and the Cotswold District Council also had to cancel their bin and recycling collections.

Conditions should improve with the Met Office not implementing a yellow weather warning for Tuesday 13th of December.
