Cheltenham Festival: Celebrating Ladies Day in style...from home
Here are some top style tips to help you get dressed up from your living room
Ladies Day always adds a splash of colour to The Cheltenham Festival as women descend of Prestbury Park in their brightest outfits and most extravagant hats.
It's the day ladies dress to impress, have a glass or two of fizz and spend the day enjoying the first-class racing.
Traditionally members of The Royal Family also make their way to the Festival on Ladies Day and add a touch of high-class to the event.
But with the Festival behind closed doors this year - how will people be celebrating one of the most iconic days of the festival?
Sarah Speakman, owner of The Cheltenham Hat Company, said:
"Why not dress up at home? We've had all sorts of Zoom parties over the last year so why not have a party with your friends only virtually?
"Get your favourite outfit out, whatever you might have worn to the races and if you have a hat then that is definitely the ultimate accessory that finished off the outfit for Ladies Day.
"Get dressed up, contact your friends, may have a couple of glasses of fizz maybe from your garden if the weather allows and celebrate in style".
Unfortunately this year, the glow of the bold and beautiful outfits won't be blessing Prestbury Park this year but it may be coming from people's living rooms instead.
Lucy Puddy, style editor at Heat Magazine, said:
"When it comes to Ladies Day dressing, hats are an absolute must.
"Whether you got for something small like a fascinator or a full blown hat, which is the very much grabbing of the attention type accessory.
"At the moment we're seeing lots of prints coming through and florals are always wa massive trend for spring - they are everywhere.
"I think everybody is ready for an uplift. bubble gum pink is a really big colour that is coming through so anything you buy if you're dressing up at home will definitely still be relevant when we're back in the pubs in a couple of months."
She added:
"Heels are also a go-to to instantly get that feeling of being dressed up.
"The classic court shoes is always going to stick around, it's always in style and out there are so many different colours.
"There's loads of fabrics so you can go from suede to a patent shoe and you can also never go wrong with a classic strappy sandal.
"They will literally go with everything from wedding attire to a day at the races to with jeans and a simple top".
