A car was set on fire in a suspected arson in Cheltenham.

Emergency services were called just before 12.40am after reports that a car had been set on fire on St. Phillip's Street.

It was reported that unknown people had been heard in the area before a resident found the vehicle alight with the rear passenger door open.

The incident is currently being treated as an arson and investigating officers are asking anyone who was in the area and witnessed suspicious activity or has information to please get in contact.

Anyone with information is being urged to contact Gloucestershire Police.
