A burst water main is causing disruption in the east of Gloucester.

It's happened on the A38 Barnwood Road - the road is closed in both directions between Elmbridge Road and A417 Walls roundabout.

People are being urged to avoid the area.

A Severn Trent spokesperson said: “We would like to offer our sincere apologies to customers who are currently experiencing interruptions to their water supply following a burst on one of our larger water pipes on Barnwood Road, Gloucester, as well as anyone impacted by the current traffic disruptions this burst is causing.

“Our engineers are on site and are doing everything they can to restore supplies as quickly as possible as a first priority, before getting everything back to normal. Again, we’re really sorry for the inconvenience this is causing.”
