Birmingham murderer who tried to dump body in Forest of Dean jailed
She was caught with the body of Phoenix Netts in two suitcases
A woman, who killed her housemate and then tried to dump her body in the Forest of Dean, has been jailed for more than 23 years.
Gareeca Gordon who is 28 killed Phoenix Netts, who was also 28, at the shared property where they both lived in Birmingham, on 16 April last year.
Ms Netts was stabbed four times.
Gordon then dismembered her body and attempted to dispose of it in the Forest of Dean, by making several trips to the area with Ms Netts' remains in suitcases.
Gordon was arrested near Coleford after a member of the public phoned the police suspecting something was up.
She was detained near a Quarry with Ms Netts' remains inside two suitcases at the time.
During the trial, the jury heard Ms Netts had mentioned to a friend in February that Gordon had demanded they have sex and then got aggressive when Ms Netts said no.
After killing Ms Netts, Gordon then attempted to trick her friends and family into thinking she had moved back to London, by sending texts, emails and voice messages suggesting she was still alive.
Gordon has been sentenced to a minimum term of 23 years and six months during a hearing at Bristol Crown Court.
