An investigation is underway, following an assault reported in Cheltenham Town Centre.

It's thought two men had been arguing on The Promenade, close to Nilam Place, before one of the men attacked the other, punching him to the head, according to police.

Officers say the victim, who is aged 25 and from Worcester, needed hospital treatment and required stitches as well as sustaining a concussion.

A statement adds: "A number of lines of enquiry have been pursued by officers into the incident, which took place at around 5am on Saturday 27 July.

"They are now appealing for anyone who has not already spoken to police to come forward. They would also like to talk to anybody who may have mobile phone footage of the incident."
