Arrest after man and woman assaulted in Gloucester city centre

Police say the pair were punched in the face in an incident on Saturday night.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A man has been arrested after two people were assaulted in Gloucester.

Gloucestershire Police say it happened in the city centre around 9:30pm on Saturday night in the Priory Road area.

A man and woman were taken to hospital after reports they were punched in the face.

Police say the woman was left with a suspected fractured eye socket.

It is understood that the suspect had been walking with a second man in the area.

They were both described as being white with one of them wearing a grey hooded top and jacket, and the other in a black jumper.

Officers are now checking CCTV and are asking any witnesses to come forward.
