Armed police sent to school in Cheltenham

Police say it was an 'isolated incident' after reports of threats to a pupil

Armed police have been at a school in Cheltenham this afternoon.

Gloucestershire Police say officers were sent to Balcarras School after reports a man had made threats to a pupil.

They've given us this statement:

"Armed officers attended Balcarras School in Cheltenham this afternoon after police received a report that a man had made threats towards a pupil of the school.

"The teenager has been safeguarded by officers and the individual did not attend the school as first thought.

"Enquiries are ongoing at this time and we would like to reassure parents that this appears to have been an isolated incident."
