A man has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting two women during a night out in Cheltenham.

Police have released a CCTV image of two other women who are believed to have intervened during one of the incidents.

Officers are appealing for them to come forward as they may have information about the sexual assault.

The incidents took place in the town centre in the early hours of Saturday 13 April.

A man had been reported as sexually assaulting a woman while in Popworld nightclub.

Shortly after 5am that morning, the same man was reported as sexually assaulting another woman close to the Toni&Guy salon on The Promenade.

The victim shouted at him to stop and a number of other women intervened to help her.

Following the intervention to help the victim, it is believed that two of the women who were helping were punched in the face.

Officers are now trying to trace two of the women who are understood to have intervened, aiding the victim, during the incident outside the salon, as they may have information which could help the investigation.

Anybody who recognises either woman, or who has any other information, is asked to contact Gloucestershire Constabulary by completing the following online form quoting incident 63 of 13 April: https://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/contact/af/contact-us/us/a-crime-that-has-already-been-reported/

A 25-year-old man from London was arrested on suspicion of two counts of sexual assault and two counts of assault causing actual bodily harm in connection with the incident. He has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
