Man dies following fatal A40 single-vehicle collision in Cheltenham

A man has died following a fatal collision on the A40 in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire Police have confirmed.

Officers were alerted to an incident taking place on the road in the early hours of Sunday morning (January 26th).

Responders arrived at the scene just after 12:40am, finding a vehicle that had crashed at the Benhall Roundabout.

Emergency services were called to the scene, but despite their best efforts - a 36-year-old man from Cheltenham was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man's next of kin has been informed of his death and is being supported by officers the force confirmed.

Two men from Gloucester, both aged in their 30s, were arrested shortly after the crash on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and currently remain in police custody.

Closures remain on Princess Elizabeth Way, Telstar Way and Gloucester Road whilst enquiries are ongoing.

Gloucestershire Police have confirmed that the roads are set to be closed for quite some time whilst forensics remain at the scene to establish the cause of the crash.

An appeal has also been launched for information and witnesses who may have been in the area at the time of the crash, with CCTV footage from the area being reviewed.
