A new exhibition is coming to the Museum of Gloucester showcasing people's memories and experiences during lockdown.

It launches online on Thursday 3rd December and is comprised of submissions from the public in Gloucestershire which records the wide-ranging experiences of people's lives between March and August.

Photos in the digital exhibition range from images of the countryside and the county's crowd-free high streets, to empty supermarket shelves and playgrounds.

It was put together after the museum called upon residents to share the different ways they coped with the national restrictions imposed to stop the spread of coronavirus.

Organisers received hundreds of entries from all age groups and backgrounds which have now been compiled into a new exhibition.

As part of the exhibition, visitors to the online show will be asked to vote for the overall ‘People’s Choice’ award on images/categories.

Cllr Steve Morgan, cabinet member for culture at Gloucester City Council, said:

“Lockdown has presented us all with many challenges and has made many of us think about what’s really important to us.

"As a cultural institution, it’s the museum’s job to reflect the lives of our residents and the effect that stand-out events like those of 2020 have had on our lives.

"I hope that as many people as possible will log on to enjoy this exhibition and then come and visit us when they are able.”
