At around 11am on Monday 8 November a 15-year-old girl was approached by a man while sat at the bus stop at the Holloway House end of Southgate Street.

The man got close to the girl and made sexual comments and gestures towards her.

Another man, who was also waiting at the bus stop, intervened and told the other man to leave the girl alone.

The man who made the comments and gestures later walked off in the direction of Barton Street.

He is described as being aged between 40 and 50 years old, around 5ft 7ins tall, white, had dark stubble, was of a slim build and spoke with a strong, non-local accent. He also wore a baseball cap and black trousers.

The man at the bus stop who intervened is described as being aged between 40 and 50 and wearing construction worker clothes.

Officers have completed a number of enquiries to identify witnesses but are now appealing for the public's help. Police are particularly keen to hear from the construction worker who intervened.

If you witnessed this incident or have any information that could assist with the investigation, please contact police and quote incident 242 of 9 November.
