£100,000 awarded to voluntary groups helping Cheltenham residents in lockdown
The grants will help 51 community organisations across the town.
51 community and voluntary groups across Cheltenham are going to receive a share of £100,000.
The grants are earmarked to support organisations which have helped vulnerable or shielding residents during lockdown.
Cheltenham Borough Council and Gloucestershire County Council contributed £50,000 each for the 'Resilience Fund'.
Cllr Steve Jordan, leader of Cheltenham Borough Council, said: “The community resilience grant fund has helped so many organisations adapt so they can continue to provide essential support and help to get our local communities back on their feet.
‘’I am pleased that the funding will help such a wide range of people".
In addition, the Borough Council has also confirmed that extra money will be provided to Caring for Communities and People, the Chinese Children and Parents Association, the Indian Association and Cheltenham Housing Aid.
Cllr Flo Clucas, cabinet member for healthy lifestyles, added: “Our communities and people are at the heart of Cheltenham.
“I am so proud of their commitment and determination to keep going and am very pleased that we have been able to help our local charities and organisations who have worked so hard to re-open and welcome back visitors".
