  • People are being asked to remove all decorations and any pots or stands before leaving your tree for recycling.
  • Anyone subscribed to the borough council's garden waste collection can also use their brown bin to recyle their tree.
  • Small trees can go in the bin, but trees taller than two metres (six feet) will need to be cut in half and placed next to the bin for collection.
  • They can also be disposed of at Household Recycling Centres across the county as well.
  • Councillor Jim Mason, lead member for clean and green environment, said: "Real Christmas trees are 100% recyclable - they can be shredded and used as chippings for natural paths in parks and woodland.
  • “It's very easy for people to recycle their trees, so I would urge everyone to do so once the festive season is over and give them a new lease of life."
