Women dies after fire at home in Cumbernauld

The 77 year old passed away after the blaze on Saturday morning

Police say there are no suspicious circumstances

A 77 year old woman has died after a fire at a home in North Lanarkshire.

Emergency services were called to the blaze in Cumbernauld’s Pleamuir Place at around 11am on Saturday February 10.

It is understood four fire engines were sent to tackle the flames, and stayed until nearly 4pm.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

"However, there are no suspicious circumstances at this time."
