A woman has appeared in custody accused of attempting to murder a man who has since died.

Amanda Welsh, 47, allegedly assaulted Joseph McGready at a flat near Glasgow city centre on September 29 2023.

Police were called to Braid Square just after midnight - 30-year-old Mr McGready was taken to hospital but died this morning

Court papers state that Welsh, who is from Govan, acted with another when she repeatedly struck Mr McGready on the head and body with a knife.

The charge says this was done to Mr McGready's severe injury, permanent disfigurement, impairment and to the danger of his life as well as attempted murder.

Mr McGready passed away this morning at Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Welsh made no plea today at a private hearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court and was remanded in custody and committed for further examination.

She will appear at court again within the next eight days.
