Ryan Porteous will play no further part in Scotland's Euro 2024 group stage after being hit by a two-match UEFA ban.

The defender was sent off during Friday's 5-1 defeat to Germany for a heavy challenge on Ilkay Gundogan.

European football's governing body have now determined that the tackle was "serious rough play" which will see Porteous sit out of matches against Switzerland and Hungary.

The Watford player's chances of featuring again at the tournament now hang in the balance with Scotland likely needing four points to progress to the knockout stages.

Steve Clarke's side sit bottom of Group A with zero points and a goal difference of minus four after just one game.

They travel from their base in Garmisch-Partenkirchen to play Switzerland in Cologne in their second group stage match on Wednesday.

Sunday will then see a potential shootout between Scotland and Hungary in Stuttgart.
