Tributes paid to 'much-loved' Clydebank teen who died on holiday
18-year-old David Alexander passed away in hospital after an incident on holiday in Lanzarote
A Clydebank teenager who died on holiday in Lanzarote is being described as 'the kindest young man'.
Friends are leaving tributes - and raising money - in memory of 18-year-old David Alexander who died in hospital last week following an incident.
David was a former pupil of Vale of Leven Academy and had recently started a course at City of Glasgow College.
'Tragic accident'
Local charity Golden Friendships is holding a fundraiser to try and help David's family.
Writing on Facebook, one member said: "A lot of our members at Golden Friendships are want to do something to raise money for young David's family as a way of trying to help after his tragic accident while on holiday.
"We are going to raffle 2 signed framed tops Chris Sutton and Mark Hately and pass all money to family to try and help in a little way. 1st ticket chooses which top the want and runner up gets the other."
It's understood more than £500 has already been raised.
'Shocked and saddened'
Matthew Boyle, Head Teacher at Vale of Leven Academy, said: “We are all very shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic and untimely death of our former student.
"David was a much-loved and respected School Base Champion Award 2021 winner, who was popular with his peers and all of our teachers and support staff.
"David’s family and friends are very much in our thoughts at this very difficult time.”
