Almost one third of traffic lights are out across the city of Glasgow because of a power surge.

Drivers are being warned to take extra care at the likes of Charing Cross and London Road as engineers work to solve the issue.

Glasgow City Council says around 28% of lights are affected but that we can expect normal service to return before lunch time.

It follows a similar outage last month which was caused by an overnight power surge.

A statement on Twitter from Glasgow City Council read:

"We're aware some traffic lights are out across the city due to a power surge in the early hours of this morning that affected around 28% of our controllers."

"We're currently resetting them and expect normal service before lunch time. Apologies for any inconvenience."
