Todd Cantwell will be allowed to leave Rangers after requesting to leave the club.

The midfielder hasn't been involved in the Ibrox side's pre-season matches and sat out of their 2-1 defeat to Birmingham City on Wednesday night.

Questions marks had been raised over his future with Philippe Clement aiming to revamp his squad this summer.

The Belgian boss has now revealed Cantwell submitted a transfer request that has been granted.

He said: "Todd Cantwell came to my office a while ago. We have a really good relationship and we talked a long time about that.

"He came a while ago to say he feels ready for another adventure, that he wants another challenge.

"I spoke long with him because I think Rangers is a really good club for him.

"I wanted to give him time also, so that's why the last couple of weeks I didn't speak about it.

"But he came back with the same request.

"So I'm going to be focused on the next couple of weeks on guys who are with their heads with Rangers."

He will train with the B team until an exit route is found.

Connor Goldson is also set to depart this summer.

The experienced defender was set to start their friendly before an offer was accepted.

He will follow the likes of John Lundstram, Borna Barisic and Ryan Jack out the door.

James Tavernier's future is still uncertain after a bid from Turkish side Trabzonspor was rejected.

The 32-year old started Wednesday's loss to Birmingham City where the team were booed off the park at half-time following a lacklustre display.

Sam Lammers has also been subject to interest from FC Twente in his homeland after an impressive loan spell at FC Utrecht.
