Teenager in critical condition after Port Glasgow hit and run
Police are searching for the driver of a Vauxhall Insignia after the collision
A teenager is in critical condition after a hit and run in Port Glasgow in the early hours of Sunday.
Around 1am on November 2 a 19 year old man was hit by a car which failed to stop on Ardmore Road, near Selkirk Road.
Police believe the car is a dark coloured Vauxhall Insignia.
The man was taken by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where staff said his condition was critical.
Sergeant Jack Swindells, Road Policing Unit, said: “At this time we don’t believe this to be a targeted hit and run.
“The injured man had been walking home from a night out in Port Glasgow.
“We’d urge the driver of the car to contact police.
“The area is residential and is a busy road, so it’s possible that other cars travelling on the road will have dashcam footage, or homes will have doorbell cameras, that could have captured helpful footage.
"Officers are carrying out enquiries in the area so we'd encourage witnesses or those with information to speak to them or call 101 quoting incident number 0188 of Sunday, 2 November 2025.
“Alternatively, details can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
Ardmore Road remains closed while police continue their enquiries.
