Teenager hit by car during rush hour in Cumbernauld

A teenage boy is in hospital after being hit by a car in North Lanarkshire during the school rush this morning.

The 15-year-old is receiving treatment at Wishaw General after the incident that happened around 9 o'clock on North Road in Cumbernauld.

Officers say enquiries are ongoing to find out what happened.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9am on Thursday, 29 August, 2024, we were called to a report of a male pedestrian having been struck by a car on North Road, Cumbernauld.

“Emergency services attended and a 15-year-old boy was taken to Wishaw General Hospital for treatment.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision.”
