St Johnstone 'part ways' with manager Steven MacLean after
The Perth side are bottom of the Premiership after nine games
St Johnstone have parted ways with manager Steven MacLean.
The Perth side lost 4-0 to St Mirren yesterday, leaving the them five points adrift at the bottom of the table after just nine games.
A club statement read: "St Johnstone Football Club can announce that it has parted company with Steven MacLean and Liam Craig.
"In the interim, Alex Cleland will assume responsibilities for First Team matters."
After yesterday's loss, MacLean questioned the effort of his players and said that some would "never play for him again".
MacLean initially took interim charge in April and kept the McDiarmid Park side in the Premiership.
The board handed him a three-year deal in the summer but had a dismal League Cup campaign and now sit rock bottom of the Premiership.
Their last victory was against Alloa Athletic in July.
St Johnstone face Kilmarnock on Wednesday.
