It is a ceremony where the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are usually crowned - but this year it could be the turn of Paisley's Craig Ferguson.

The Scotland supporter has been nominated for Fan of the Year at the FIFA Best Awards after his 1,000-mile trek in the summer.

Ferguson walked from Hampden to Munich for the opening match of Euro 2024 in aid of men's mental health.

He teamed up with charity Brother's In Arms to raise money and awareness, while documenting the journey on social media.

"It's such a surreal feeling", he told Clyde 1 Superscoreboard.

""This is a ceremony I've watched since I was young and seeing the footballing elites being nominated and to be included in a dream come true.

"Especially being there respresenting Scotland and the men's mental health movement.

"I never could have imagined I'd be up for nomination.

"I had to wipe my eyes and refresh the page a million times to check that it was actually me. It's crazy, I'm not over it yet."

The winner will be decided by a public vote which can be accessed on the FIFA website.
