Man seriously hurt after crash with road sweeper lorry

A car driver's in hospital in Glasgow with serious injuries following a crash with a road sweeping lorry.

The-26-year-old's Vauxhall Grandland collided with the Scania XT road sweeper in Cumbernauld on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident happened around 1.50pm Mollins Road, which was closed for six hours for the investigation.

Serious injuries

The driver of the Grandland was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment to what are described as serious injuries.

The driver of the road sweeper was not injured.

Sergeant Chris McColm said: “Our enquiries are ongoing and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash and who hasn’t already spoken to police to get in touch.

“I would also ask anyone who may have been in the area at the time and who has dash cam footage which could assist to contact us.”
