Rangers sign Cremonese striker Cyriel Dessers

Rangers have signed striker Cyriel Dessers from Cremonese on a four-year deal.

Michael Beale's side had been locked in talks with the Italian club over the valuation of the Nigerian international but are believed to have paid an initial fee of just over £4million for the attacker.

Speaking to the club's official website, Dessers said: “I am really happy, it is a big relief to finally be here. There have been some long days and some stressful days, but it is a great feeling to finally be here.

"The history of the club, the fans, the stadium, it's massive but next to that I look at what is here at this moment.

"I had really good talks with Michael Beale about his plans, the ideas of what he wants on and off the pitch and I thought that could be a really good fit for me and for the team so I am happy to be here."

The 28-year-old was born in Belgium and has played for a string of Belgian and Dutch teams, including Feyenoord.

He has scored 111 goals in 271 club appearances.

Dessers becomes the Ibrox side's sixth signing of the summer window.

Brighton forward Abdallah Sima sealed his loan move last week.

Kieran Dowell, Dujon Sterling and Jack Butland all agreed to move on free transfers.

Atalanta striker Sam Lammers has also joined for a reported fee of £3.5million.

The Premiership season begins on August 5, with Rangers facing a trip to Kilmarnock.
