Rangers are closing in on the signing of FC Twente captain Robin Propper.

The central defender is set to have a medical after the clubs agreed a fee.

Propper is being drafted in after the sale of Connor Goldson to Cypriot outfit Aris Limassol.

The 30-year old has made over 100 appearances for his club since joining from Heracles in 2021.

He signed a new deal three-year deal in January but will now made the switch to the Ibrox side as the start of the Premiership season approaches.

Philippe Clement is continuing his rebuild with other experienced players like John Lundstram, Ryan Jack and Borna Barisic leaving this summer.

Many of their recruits have been younger additions with Propper adding more experience to their backline.

Last month, Clement revealed those were the types of signings he would target later in the window.

He said: "We were focused on everything, but it is easier earlier to get the young players in, but for the rest of the transfer window there will also be experience coming into the building and we need a good balance in the squad and in the team of both.

"It was important to find these young talents and I think we have found a few really exciting players for the future for this club."
