Police investigating attempted murder inside Greenock pub

A 60 year old man is in a serious condition in hospital

A 60 year old man in being treated in hospital after an attempted murder in Greenock on Tuesday evening.

The incident happened around 6.30pm on September 17 in a pub on Cathcart Street.

He was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where his condition has been described as serious.

Detective Inspector Nicky Beattie said: "The family of the man are being supported by police and being kept up to date with the ongoing investigation.

“I am appealing to anyone that can help with our investigation to come forward.

"We believe there were a number of people within the premises at the time and I would appeal to anyone who was there on Tuesday night to speak to us if you have not already done so."

“Those with information can speak to officers by calling 101 and quoting incident number 0962 of 18 September.

“Alternatively, you can make an anonymous report to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
