Police appeal after 12 year old robbed in Hamilton town centre

A young boy was left frightened after a lunchtime robbery on Monday, 19 June.

The incident occurred around 1.15pm in Hamilton town centre when the boy was walking with friends before being approached by a man who demanded he hand over his money.

The man was then seen to run off in the direction of the Regent’s Centre.

The suspect has been described as being in his late 40s, around 5’9, with grey hair and stubble. At the time, he was wearing a grey sweater and blue jeans, he also has a tremble in his right arm.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward

Lankashire CID detective constable, Gerry Hattie, said: “Thankfully the boy was not injured but this was a frightening experience for him.

“I'm appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or saw a man matching this description to come forward."
