LEZ fines warning to drivers as road closes for vital M8 viaduct repairs
Pheonix Road is closing while engineers prop up the concrete viaduct
A road beneath the M8 is being closed because of major works to repair the ageing concrete structure, with drivers being warned of the risk of being fined for crossing into Glasgow’s new Low Emission Zone.
The A804 Pheonix Road is being closed from Saturday 22nd July to allow engineers working on vital repairs to the Woodside Viaducts to install props and jacks.
A diversion route will be used via St George’s Road, looping back under the M8 on Garscube Road.
For traffic heading for the westbound M8 a new slip road has been made on West Graham Street.
LEZ warning
The diversion route takes drivers across the boundary into the city’s Low Emission Zone, where non-compliant vehicles face automatic fines starting at £60.

Traffic using the M8 is exempt from the LEZ and drivers who stray from the official diversion route are being warned they could be captured by the enforcement cameras and issued with a penalty charge notice.
