Bosses at the National Park are rejecting proposals by the owners of Flamingo Land to build a controversial holiday resort on the shores of Loch Lomond.

They've spent all afternoon in Balloch scrutinising plans which have been the centre of a heated public debate since 2016.

They included woodland lodges, a hotel and a water park.

However, the development won't go ahead over concerns about the damage it could do to the environment.

"Garish and destructive"

Green MSP Ross Greer has been leading a campaign against the developments.

He previously said: “The threat of this garish and destructive mega-resort has been hanging over the residents of Balloch for far too long.

“It is staggering that Flamingo Land has pushed things this far.

"Over 150,000 people and many respected organisations have made clear that their daft plans are not welcome, but they have refused to listen."
