Manchester United will face Lyon in a pre-season friendly at Murrayfield on Wednesday 19 July.

It will be the first time that the Premier League side have played at the home of Scottish rugby.

It is also set to be United's first match in Scotland over a decade, when they lost 2-1 to Aberdeen at Pittodrie in 2012.

The stadium in Edinburgh can host up to 67,144 people, making it the largest stadium in the country and the fifth largest in the UK.

Murrayfield previously hosted a pre-season friendly between Liverpool and Napoli in 2019 with over 65,000 supporters in attendance, which was the highest at a football match in Scotland this millennium.

The game will be United’s only fixture in the UK as part of their summer preparations for the 2023/24 Premier League season.

After playing in the capital, the Red Devils will head to the USA.

They will face Arsenal, Wrexham, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund across eight days in America before heading back to England.

Erik ten Hag's side are currently 4th in the Premier League and won the League Cup earlier this campaign.

Opponents Lyon played in Scotland as recently in 2021, beating Rangers in the Europa League group stage in Glasgow.

The French side currently sit 7th in Ligue 1.

Tickets for the game are on sale at Midday on Thursday 18 May from Ticketmaster and Ticketek.
