A man who raped a teenage girl in Motherwell after meeting her on the street has been jailed for 7 years.

Jakub Sojka took the 15 year old home with him after meeting her in March 2021. Once there he threatened her family, forced her to take drugs and hit her head against a wall.

After detaining her against her will, he sexually assaulted her while she was intoxicated before raping her.

On August 27, at the High Court in Edinburgh, Sojka was sentenced to seven years imprisonment.

He had previously been found guilty after a trial at the High Court in Glasgow.

His name has been added to the sex offenders register indefinitely.

A 10-year non-harassment order, preventing Sojka from contacting or attempting to contact this victim, was also granted.

Scotland’s Procurator Fiscal for High Court Sexual Offending, Katrina Parkes said:

“Jakub Sojka carried out this appalling, opportunistic attack on a young girl who was vulnerable.

“He will now face the consequences of his predatory actions thanks to bravery of his victim in reporting him.

“This type of offending has no place in Scottish society. I urge any victims of similar offending to come forward, report it and seek support.

“You will be listened to and we will use all the tools available to us to pursue justice.”
