Popular Glasgow restaurant closed due to fire
The curry house has said it'll be closed for at least today and tomorrow.
A popular Glasgow restaurant has been forced to close due to a fire.
Mother India on Westminster Terrace will be closed for the rest of today and tomorrow while they assess the damage.
The roads surrounding the stalwart Indian eatery were sealed off while fire crews tackled the blaze.
"The fire brigade are still on site."
In a post on Facebook, Mother India said: "We've unfortunately had a fire at Mother India (Westminster Terrace) and the fire brigade are still on site.
"We will be closed today/tomorrow and once we have assessed the damage, we will update you."
A Police spokesperson said: "Due to a report of a fire in Westminster Terrace, Glasgow which was reported to police around 11.15am on Sunday, 23 February, 2025 a number of road closures are in place.
"Sauchiehall Street between Derby Street and North Claremont Street is closed as are Kelvingrove Street, Westminster Terrace and Parkgrove Terrace. Drivers and pedestrians are asked to avoid the area."
Customers who have tables booked at the restaurant are urged to get in touch for more details.
Mother India said in another Facebook post: "If you have any enquiries regarding your booking, please contact us, thank you."
