Police searching for a missing man from Helensburgh say a body has been found.

21-year-old Joshua Gayton, was reported missing after concerns were raised he did not attend work at nearby Faslane Naval Base on Tuesday last week.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.20pm on Sunday, 21 April 2024, police received a report the body of a man had been found in water off Helensburgh.

Joshua’s family has been told ahead of a formal identification taking place.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.
