Celtic midfielder Matt O'Riley has completed his move to Brighton.

The midfielder has joined the Premier League team for a reported £26million, a fee that would breaking the record of highest fee received for a player in Scottish football - held by Kieran Tierney's sale to Arsenal.

It is also suggested the deal could rise as high as £30million with potential add-ons.

The 23-year-old joined the Parkhead club in 2022 for £1.5m from League One side MK Dons.

O'Riley became an instant success under Ange Postecoglou and went on to make 124 appearances, scoring 27 goals.

He won three Premiership titles, two Scottish Cups and one League Cup.

Celtic had previously turned down bids from Atletico Madrid and Atalanta for the Denmark international, refusing to back down on their asking price.

He becomes the club's third sale of the summer, following the exits of Sead Haksabanovic and Hyeon-Gyu Oh.

Brendan Rodgers' side have signed Kasper Schmeichel, Viljami Sinisalo, Paulo Bernardo and Adam Idah so far this summer.

The Northern Irishman has frequently spoken about his desire to further bolster his squad, with the Scottish champions now expected to make more signings before the transfer window closes on 30 August.
