Driver arrested as passenger dies at scene of crash on Monday night

A passenger's been killed in a crash with a parked car in Port Glasgow as police arrested the woman who was driving.

A 38-year old man was in a VW Golf which hit a Peugeot which had been parked on Clune Brae at 9.55pm on Monday 16th December.

He died at the scene.

The 50-year-old woman who was driving was arrested, and then released, by police who are investigating how it happened.

She was taken to hospital for treatment.

Crash investigation

Chief Inspector David Doherty said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died.

“As our enquiries continue, we urge anyone who was in the area of Clune Brae and either witnessed the crash or has any information that may assist our investigation to contact us.

“Anyone with dash-cam or personal footage is asked to review it and please get in touch if it contains anything relevant to our investigation.

“If you have any information that could help, please contact 101 quoting reference number 3838 of 16 December.”
