A 21 year old man’s in hospital after a crash which shut Scotland's busiest motorway for more than 5 hours.

A black Corsa and a lorry were involved in a crash on the M8 near Junction 7 Coatbridge at 12.55am on Tuesday morning,

The Corsa driver has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

The road reopened at 645am.

Sergeant Elaine Scott of the Road Policing Unit said: “Our investigation into this serious crash continues and I would appeal to anyone who saw what happened, or has relevant dash cam footage, to please get in touch.

“The road was closed for around six hours to allow enquiries to be carried out.

“Information can be passed to Police Scotland by calling 101, and quoting reference 0116 of 26 November, 2024.”
