Man in hospital after being assaulted in Glasgow Park

Officers need to speak to anyone who saw what happened.

A 56-year-old man is in hospital after being assaulted by a group of young people in Glasgow on Friday night.

The incident took place around 11.50pm when he was walking through Govanhill Park.

He was taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains.

Enquiries have established that the group of youths made a lot of noise during the attack and whilst leaving the park, so officers are appealing who may have seen them or witnessed the incident to come forward.

Detective Constable Glenn Clark, from Cathcart CID, said: “This was a shockingly violent and unprovoked attack and we are carrying out extensive enquiries to identify and trace the youths responsible.

“We are asking anyone with information, or who may have seen anything in the area around the time of the incident, to please come forward.
