Man dies in crash on A725 in Lanarkshire

The 50-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man has died following a crash on the A725 in Lanarkshire this morning.

It happened around 11.30am at the Shawhead flyover at its junction with the A8 eastbound slip road.

The crash involved a red HGV, a white Ford Transit flat bed and a black Mini Cooper.

The driver of the Ford Transit flat bed, a 50-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the other vehicles were checked over at the scene.

The road was closed for around five and a half hours while investigations were carried out.

Sergeant Ross Allison said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this very difficult time.

“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash and who has not already spoken to officers to get in touch.

“I would also appeal for anyone who was driving in the area and who may have dash-cam footage that could assist to contact us.”
