Man who died in crash in Glasgow's east end named by police

Nigel Barclay from Easterhouse was the driver of a car which crashed on Carntyne Road on Wednesday

A man who died following a crash in the east end of Glasgow has been named by police as 59-year-old Nigel Barclay from Easterhouse.

He was driving a green Vauxhall Insignia which crashed on Carntyne Road at around 12.35pm on Wednesday.

Sergeant Chris Hoggans said: “Our thoughts are with Nigel’s family and we are providing support to them as our enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances of this crash.

“We would appeal to anyone who was driving on Carntyne Road, Glasgow around the time of crash, who either witnessed it take place or who has any information that may assist. Any driver with dashcam footage is asked to please contact us as soon as possible.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 1607 of 4 December, 2024.”
