Man charged after fatal crash in Blantyre

A 54-year-old man has been arrested and charged following a fatal crash on the Glasgow Road in Blantyre last year.

The incident happened around 5.55pm on Tuesday, 19 December, 2023 and involved a flatbed vehicle and a 84-year-old pedestrian.

The pedestrian, Robert Shira-Gibb, was taken to hospital where he died the next day.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
