A lawyer is being ordered to pay a total of £3,000 for his behaviour during a trial at the High Court in Glasgow in 2022.

Ellie Wilson complained about the way Lorenzo Alonzi questioned her during the trial against her ex-boyfriend Daniel McFarlane who was later found guilty of raping her twice when they were students.

She told Greatest Hits Radio: "I've been fighting for this moment for over a year and a half.

"It has really taken a toll on my mental health and as much as I am happy my complaint is being upheld, I want a proper apology from him.

"He seems more worried about protecting his reputation than carrying out his job in a professional manner."

The Faculty of Advocates found Mr Alonzi repeatedly crossed the line during cross examination - despite several interruptions from the judge.

He will have to pay a £2,000 fine, £1,000 in compensation to Ellie and will be handed a written warning.

Ellie added: "His behaviour throughout this process is completely embarrassing and I hope my experience of going through the justice system does not put other victims off from reporting their rapists or abusers.

"However, I am proud of myself for persevering."

We've contacted Mr Alonzi for comment.
