Kilmarnock knocked out of Conference League qualifiers

Published 29th Aug 2024

Kilmarnock's European dream has come to an end after a 1-1 draw with FC Copenhagen at Rugby Park.

Derek McInnes' side were 2-0 down from the first leg of their Conference League lay-off and unable to turn it around at home.

The Ayrshire side battled well on home turf and put themselves ahead in the first half.

A deep free-kick into the box sparked a goalmouth scramble with Marley Watkins eventually managing to force the ball over the line.

The visitors leveled things up in the second half when the sliding Lewis Mayo turned the ball into his own net.

Attentions will return to domestic football where Kilmarnock will look to improve their form.

They currently sit bottom of the Premiership after defeats to Celtic, St Johnstone and Aberdeen.

Motherwell also knocked them out of the Premier Sports Cup earlier in the month.
