BAFTA-winning Scottish director says Glasgow has best film crowd in UK
The Last King of Scotland director Kevin MacDonald is showcasing his newest movie at the Glasgow Film Festival this evening
A BAFTA-winning Scottish filmmaker is telling Clyde 1 News that Glasgow crowds appreciate the industry more than anywhere else in the UK.
Kevin Macdonald is one of many directors to showcase new creations at the Glasgow Film Festival over the next 11 days.
The Last King of Scotland creator's new documentary titled: High & Low: John Galliano focuses on the life and times of the former Dior fashion designer.
The Gibraltar-born creative was famously 'cancelled' 10 years ago, after being filmed making antisemitic comments at a bar in Paris.
'There's something about the Glaswegians'
He said: "It's always great having a film come out, and waiting to see what the public think.
"It's exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time, especially since the film is about a controversial topic.
"Glasgow was where I saw the first movies that I ever saw.
"I remember queuing up on Sauchiehall Street to see Star Wars and Raging Bull.
"It's tied into my whole cinematic education and it's always really nice to show a film to a Glasgow crowd.
"Glasgow probably has more people who are into and appreciate film than anywhere else in the UK, including London.
"I don't know what it is, but there's something about the Glaswegians that they really love their films."
