A 90-year-old Glasgow woman is getting ready to zip wire across the River Clyde later to raise money for charity.

Gladys Speedie celebrated her milestone birthday in April and will wave to her family and friends from 100 feet in the air.

She told Greatest Hits Radio: "I love people which is the key to staying young, I am always out with friends.

"I go to painting, croquet and I play bridge often too.

"I am someone who likes to tick things off their bucket list and this is certainly one of them."

Gladys is raising money for Glasgow City Mission after living in the city for most of her life.

She will be getting cheered on by her two nieces and has been getting support from people online from all over the world.

She added: "One of them lives in Inverness and phoned to let me know I am on Facebook and I thought 'oh gosh what now'.

"The other is a childminder and will come with a double buggy and party poppers."
