A Glasgow man has been convicted of an assault on his father.
Kai Graham, 35, turned on Peter Dixon at his home in Parkhead on November 25 2019.
Graham repeatedly punched his dad then kicked him on the head.
Mr Dixon was found to have suffered a fractured skull and eye socket.
Graham was convicted of assaulting Mr Dixon by uttering threats of violence towards him and strike him on the head to his severe injury, permanent disfigurement and danger of life.
Graham, of Uddingston, South Lanarkshire, was initially charged with assaulting his dad with a hammer but that allegation was removed by the jury.
Glasgow Sheriff Court heard from Graham who stated in his evidence that he was working as a handyman at the time.
He stated that he went to his father's home in order to get him work as a painter.
Graham said: "I wanted him to be proud of me - he hadn't been in my life."
Graham stated Mr Dixon let him into his home but stated that his dad appeared "p****ed off" with him as if he did not want him there.
He claimed that he was "extremely gutted" and disappointed in himself.
Graham claimed that Mr Dixon shouted at him and told him to leave his house.
Graham stated he wanted his dad to explain himself but matters "escalated."
He claimed Mr Dixon reached for "something" at the side of his couch which he thought was a roller.
Graham claimed that he grabbed his hand meantime which lasted for three seconds.
Paul Mullen, defending, asked what happened after that.
He replied: "I went from the living room to the start of the hallway and I said you need to explain - we will sit down with a coffee - he said he didn't want to."
Graham stated he went to "click the kettle" when he heard a door shut and he went to investigate.
Graham claimed Mr Dixon was outside and threw something at him.
He stated that he approached Mr Dixon who clipped him on the side of his face.
Graham said that he pushed his dad back believing Mr Dixon was going to "kick my a**e."
Graham stated: "He came towards me again and I just started punching him.
"He stumbled back when I punched him and he lost his footing off the kerb."
Graham claimed Mr Dixon then grabbed him.
He said: "I jumped back and kicked him on the face on the left side."
Graham stated that he then drove away from the scene.
The court heard that Mr Dixon was later treated for a forehead wound which required five stitches.
He also sustained an eye and skull fracture as well as abrasions.
It was also revealed Graham has a previous conviction from Ayr Sheriff Court for an assault to severe injury and permanent disfigurement with a sharp object.
Sentence was deferred pending background reports by Sheriff David Taylor who granted Graham bail meantime.
He said: "You have been convicted of a serious offence.
"Be under no illusions, the fact you are being granted bail is in no way an identification that you won't be subjected to custody when this matter comes back before me."
